To use Slovenian motorways, you need to purchase an electronic e-vignette (e-vignette) before entering the tolled section.

Motorways and expressways may only be used upon payment of a toll, while main roads and secondary roads are free of charge. As of 1 January 2026, the coastal expressway between Škofije and Izola (H5 and H6) has been reclassified as a main road, so vehicles under 3.5 tonnes no longer require an e-vignette there.
The toll obligation applies to vehicles with a maximum authorised mass of under 3,500 kg, according to the following toll classes:

  • Toll class 2A – two-track vehicles not exceeding 3,500 kg whose height above the front axle is less than 1.3 metres: most passenger cars, minibuses, off-road vehicles and pickups, as well as motorhomes regardless of their height
  • Toll class 2B – two-track vehicles not exceeding 3,500 kg whose height above the front axle is more than 1.3 metres: most vans and multi-purpose vehicles

* Vehicles over 3.5 tonnes do not purchase a vignette, but instead pay the distance-based DarsGo toll.

Vignette types

The e-vignette is available for three periods of validity:

  • Weekly (7-day) e-vignette
  • Monthly e-vignette
  • Annual e-vignette – valid for one year from the chosen start date

* No separate vignette is required for a trailer (trailer or caravan): the toll classes are defined for the vehicle with or without a trailer, so the towing vehicle's vignette also covers the combination.
* It is the purchaser's responsibility to select the correct toll class: if the wrong toll class is chosen, the toll is not deemed to have been paid. The boundary between classes 2A and 2B is a height of 1.3 metres above the front axle.
* An activated e-vignette cannot be transferred to another vehicle.

The toll calculation is displayed by the system once the vehicle and journey details have been entered.

ℹ️ Online purchase and required data

Payment for the right to use the roads is made online. Registering the vehicle takes just a few minutes. The following data are required:

  • Registration number
  • Country of registration
  • Toll class
  • Email address
  • Mobile phone number

When placing the order, you must enter the vehicle's registration number and the country in which the vehicle is registered, then select the start and the duration of validity. The start of validity can be set up to 30 days in advance.
The system requests an email address and a mobile phone number for contact purposes. The mobile phone number is required because the link to the confirmation is also sent by SMS, thereby ensuring that the user receives the confirmation even if delivery of the email is prevented for any reason.

Upon successful payment, the system sends a receipt and a QR™ SMS code containing the vehicle identification details and the period of validity of the purchased right of use.

⛔ Fines

The legislation (Zakon o cestninjenju) sets out in detail the fines that can be expected if someone enters a tolled road without valid payment of the toll:

  • For using the road without a valid e-vignette, the fine is €300, reduced to €150 if paid within eight days.
  • If the registration number linked to a valid e-vignette is transferred without authorisation to another vehicle or to a vehicle of a different toll class, the fine is €500.
  • Each further entry constitutes a separate offence, so several fines may be imposed during a single journey.
  • Enforcement is carried out using cameras installed across the motorway network, at control points and by patrol vehicles.

Here, through the registration portal, the required proof of toll payment can be obtained online in just a few minutes, and it is recorded in the official database of DARS – Družba za avtoceste v Republiki Sloveniji d.d.

Components of the registration service

With us, the e-vignette is available together with the Comfortia and Auxil services; their fees are included in the registration fee.

Under Comfortia – if you mistyped the data during the order – we will change the licence plate number, the country of registration, the vehicle category, the destination country or the start date of validity free of charge on one occasion; the system checks for obvious typing errors automatically and, if necessary, manually as well. The order may be cancelled and the full amount refunded at least 24 hours before the start of validity, with the exception of the annual e-vignette.

Under Auxil – if you receive a fine for a reason related to your order – we provide legal assistance within 180 days of the order: we act as your authorised representative before the competent authority, submit an appeal, and initiate a payment deferral or a reduction on equitable grounds. In justified cases, we may also reimburse the amount of the fine, up to a maximum of EUR 300.

Further details can be found in sections 4.1 and 4.2 of the General Terms and Conditions.
